What is the difference between woodworking and woodcarving?

  1. Wood carving is always making sculptures out of wood but wood work can take in this and making things such as tables of cabinets with wood.

  2. Woodworking is a more general term than woodcarving. Anything you build, make or carve from wood is called woodworking. Woodcarving is a form of woodworking by means of a cutting tool held in the hand, resulting in a wooden figure or figurine or in the ornamentation of a wooden object.

  3. Wood working is building furniture or some other sort of functional object.
    Wood carving is the ornamentation of wood, so although you have carved work on furniture it would still be considered wood work. The carving is more of an art and the prior is more mechanical. I do both and that’s the best way i can describe the difference.
