I started making outdoor wooden projects. Which type of wood and the thickness should i use. These are exposed to the weather?

Bring on the comments

  1. plywood 1/2 inch thick it should be.

  2. Depends on the project. What are you trying to build? Cedar and treated lumber can be used.

  3. pressure treated wood which is also green in color it is injected with sevral wood preservatives so it wont rot also redwood is always used on outside projects stands up to wheather very good as far as thickness it depends on what you are making i would say for either of these woods to last you need at leist 1/2inch to whatever2-3-4inches or railroad ties they are coated with kreosote like for retaining walls etc. if you are trying to use wood you have you can buy wood preservitive and put it on your self.good luck.

  4. I always use pressure treated wood. Some folks use cedar, redwood or cypress but they are not a durable as pressure treated wood.

This is specially true if the project is in contact with the ground or concrete. Whatever is in contact with the ground or concrete will wick up moisture and the bacteria will start eating the wood.
